Biography

Zang Hongrui, MD in Otorhinolaryngology, PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Chief Physician, Professor, Master's Supervisor. His main research areas include basic and clinical research in rhinology, the pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis, the application of endoscopic sinus surgery techniques, and research on the diagnosis and treatment of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (snoring). He currently works in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Plastic Surgery Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and previously worked in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Beijing Tongren Hospital, Capital Medical University. He graduated from China Medical University, Capital Medical University, and Dalian University of Technology.

He has led 3 projects, including the Beijing High-level Talent Clinical Backbone Program, the Capital Characteristic Project “Quantitative Study of Nasal Cavity Expansion Surgery”, and the Wu Jieping Foundation. He has participated in 5 national and provincial-level research projects, participated in the compilation of 6 monographs, and published 100 papers, including 33 SCI papers; among them, 34 papers were as first author or corresponding author, including 8 SCI papers. He has supervised more than 20 doctoral and master's students to graduation. He has obtained 2 invention patents and 8 utility model patents. He was selected as a Beijing High-level Talent in 2015. In 2013, “Basic and Clinical Research on Diagnosis and Treatment of Frontal Sinus Surgery” won the Second Prize of the Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award.
Specialties: Endoscopic surgery for various complex nasal cavity and paranasal sinus lesions, endoscopic minimally invasive functional rhinoplasty, and minimally invasive multi-level surgery for obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (snoring). This includes minimally invasive tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy and other pediatric snoring surgeries; endoscopic surgery for chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps and frontal sinus lesions; selective nerve interruption surgery for allergic rhinitis; resection of benign and malignant tumors of the external nose, nasal cavity, and paranasal sinuses; functional and cosmetic septoplasty such as three-line tension-releasing septoplasty for deviated nasal septum; endoscopic reduction and repair of nasal and facial trauma and nasal bone fractures; endoscopic minimally invasive functional surgery for correction of crooked nose and deformities; endoscopic revision and functional reshaping after rhinoplasty; and nasal cavity expansion surgery and submandibular volume-reduction surgery for obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (snoring).
